An 18-year-old driver from Methuen was taken to a Boston hospital with life-threatening injuries after a high-speed crash on the northbound side of Interstate 93 late Sunday, Massachusetts State Police said. The crash was north of Interstate 495 in Andover, Massachusetts State Police said. A MedFlight helicopter landed on the highway to pick up the driver, resulting in a shutdown of both sides of the I-93, according to a 9:52 p.m. tweet from state police. At about 10:29 p.m. Sunday, state police said the southbound side was reopened while the northbound side was restricted to one lane for passing vehicles.
